About the Event

Our book club participants turned in six cogent suggestions for our first 2026 meeting. A selection was quickly agreed upon and the remaining five titles will be saved for upcoming meetings. The plan is to discuss the book The Wilderness World of John Muir, compiled and edited by Edwin Way Teale. Following the book discussion, we will watch the film High Sierra. Come join us for a scintillating and exciting get-together. Yes, there will be popcorn.

The book:

As a conservationist, John Muir traveled through most of the American wilderness alone and on foot, without a gun or a sleeping bag. In 1903, while on a three-day camping trip with President Theodore Roosevelt, he convinced the president of the importance of a national conservation program, and he is widely recognized for saving the Grand Canyon and Arizona's Petrified Forest.
