About the Event
Come and hike with Friends of Pachaug Forest (FOPF) to celebrate CFPA Trails Day 2024 along the Nehantic Trail. This moderate 4.1 mile hike is the first of a series of three hikes during which FOPF will lead participants in hiking the entire Nehantic Trail. On this hike you will cross some of the highest elevations in Pachaug SF, circle the rim of a scenic gorge, pass through a working ridgetop farm and likely catch a glimpse of some rare native orchids. Meet at Pachaug State Forest Chapman Field at 9 am to car pool and stage some vehicles at the end of this one way hike. The hike itself will be from 10am to 1 pm from the Trail 2 / Cutoff Road junction in Pachaug SF to Hopeville Pond State Park picnic area; 4.1 miles on the Nehantic Trail. Bring water, snacks and bug repellent. FOPF hike Leader is Michael Lane, who was previously a Board Member of FOPF and was one of the founders of the organization.
